As an actor, singer and cabaret performer, Kurth has enjoyed seasons at the Brunswick Picture House (Cheeky Cabaret 2023/2024) Carols at Como Park (soloist 2022), Arts Centre Melbourne (Macdeth 2017, Stink Police 2017, directed by James Pratt), Melbourne International Arts Festival  (A Largely Fanciful History of The Spiegeltent 2008, directed by Casey Bennetto,  Burning Embers 2004, directed by Douglas Horton & Richard Frankland produced by Chamber Made Opera), Adelaide Cabaret Festival, (Suburban Gothic 2019, directed by Steven Gates),  Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), (Walkabout 2005, directed by Richard Frankland), and Malthouse Theatre (Take the L Out of Lover 2007, directed by Jonah Klein),  and Gasworks Arts Park (Champagne Cabaret 2022, Sunset Circus 2021, directed by Red Canvas Productions). 

Described as an “Australian treasure” by playwright and author Richard J Frankland, Kurth demonstrates the rare and uncanny ability to not only capture the hearts and minds of her audience, but nurture them in the process. No matter what hat Kurth is wearing, it’s a skill that’s becoming increasingly recognised across the industry.

Kurth also boasts over 20 years of professional experience devising, producing and co-directing theatrical works. She has worked with a variety of Australia's top independent companies, including the physical theatre troupe ‘Company 13’ for 10 years. Kurth’s current collaborations include a Regional Arts Victoria tour of Sass & Secrets, with the magician and mentalist Cath Jamison, a new cabaret piece with multi-instrumentalist and composer, Matthew Anderson (directed and produced by Elena Kirschbaum of Highwire Entertainment) and an original theatre show with lauded actor and puppeteer, Christian Bagin (directed by Megan Jones).

Kurth holds an impressive arsenal of training, including a Diploma of Theatre Making from the John Bolton Theatre School, an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts from Sydney’s acclaimed Actors Centre, and formal certifications in Theatre Arts and Training & Assessment. In 2010, Aurora completed her Solo Artist in Residence Program at Victoria University (VU), Melbourne. During her time at VU, she studied singing, acting and movement for 8 months, in India and Germany, with the assistance of VU’s Study Abroad Program.

Born in Melbourne in 1975, Aurora Kurth continues to craft a timeless legacy across the Australian performing arts scene.
